Exclusive: Paul Robinson delivers verdict on 'exceptional' PL bonus for Leeds players
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that the Leeds players deserve the big bonuses they got for securing promotion to the Premier League.
Price of Football podcast host Kieran Maguire said total bonuses of £19m were being paid out to players and management by Leeds United.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon said players would get £10m of that.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said that the players deserve to earn a portion of what Leeds are set to earn in the Premier League.
“There’s a lot of talk about player bonuses and what players get, but if it wasn’t for the players Leeds wouldn’t be in the Premier League.

“And it’s right that players earn a portion of what the club is set to earn, because every Saturday or Tuesday, or whenever it is, the seats face them.
“The players deserve what they get and figures are quite often inflated in the press. It’s often appearance-related and squad-related, on a points system.
“So, you’d get so many points for being in the squad, so many points for starting, so many for starting more than 10 games, and it will all be divvied up pro-rata.
“But they are set to get an exceptional bonus and I think they thoroughly deserve what they get.”
The sums of money involved in football are scarcely believable to most people and certainly not relatable.
But Leeds are set to earn a huge amount of money in the Premier League – Deloitte claim this could be an additional £160m over three years and £265m over five years if they stay in the Premier League for at least one season.

Andrea Radrizzani has said that Leeds could be worth £1bn if they consolidate successfully in the Premier League.
He is set to earn a lot of money from his stake in the club – it’s only right that the players get to cash in, too.
