Exclusive: 'Man mountain' – Paul Robinson in awe of one Leeds player in win v Huddersfield
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has described Leeds United centre-back Ben White as a “man mountain” after his display in the 2-0 win against Huddersfield on Saturday.
White, who has been a rock at the back for Leeds this season, moved up and replaced Kalvin Phillips in Saturday’s game after the midfielder was suspended.
White looked shaky in the first 45 minutes but settled into a deeper role after Leeds took the lead early in the second half.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “Ben White was a man-mountain on Saturday.
“He’s been the only constant in a back-three with Cooper out injured.
“But he showed he can adjust to different personnel, different systems, whether he’s in a three or a four, and I think he is becoming absolutely key to what Leeds do.
“Also Saturday showed how well Leeds have progressed as a team because they obviously didn’t miss Kalvin Phillips.”
White should drop back to his usual centre-back position when Leeds host Hull City on Tuesday night.
Phillips will be back after his one-game suspension, which Leeds navigated safely thanks to White.
Leeds can go back to the top of the Championship with a seventh win in a row, with West Brom set to travel to Wigan on Wednesday night.
The two sides are pulling away at the top with an eight-point gap back to Fulham in third.
