Exclusive: Leeds United to submit first bid for Club Brugges star Charles De Ketelaere in coming days
Leeds United are readying their first bid for Club Brugges star Charles De Ketelaere in the coming days, according to Alexandre Braeckman.
The RTL Sport journalist, speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, shared that the Whites are set to table a proposal worth up to €30million [£25.8million].
It is shared that Brugges are expecting up to €40million [£34.5million] though, a deal that would smash the current Belgian League record fee for outgoing players.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Braeckman shared what to expect from both parties: “Leeds is about to submit a first €30m bid, it could be done in the next days, but I can’t tell exactly when.
“Bruges is expecting €40m, they know they could have a huge amount of money for this player. It could easily be the biggest transfer of the Belgian football (currently €27m for Jonathan David, from Gent to Lille).”
No messing around.
Victor Orta knew that Leeds were crying out for a new centre-forward, and it looks as though he has found his man.
After attempts to sign the likes of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah, Leeds took a step back and were patient in their pursuit until identifying big targets such as De Ketelaere.
It is all about whether or not the Whites can now persuade the Belgian superstar to move to Elland Road, with Champions League football already available and AC Milan also sniffing around.
With a first official bid coming in days, Leeds are clearly looking to be first on the table as they try to gain an advantage of talking to De Ketelaere and Brugges without competition.
It will be interesting to see what happens, but based on this, it looks as though that Leeds may need to up this first bid if they want to seriously bring De Ketelaere to West Yorkshire.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites now want to sign this striker with a rival set to kickstart a major £30million+ transfer battle
