Exclusive: 'If Salah had done that...' – Paul Robinson in awe of one Leeds player v Huddersfield
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has paid tribute to the goal scored by Gjanni Alioski in the 2-0 win against Huddersfield on Saturday.
The ball fell to Alioski on the edge of the box from a corner and he caught the ball beautifully on the volley to score the opening goal early in the second half.
Pablo Hernandez got the second to secure the three points.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “It was a great goal and the way he took his volley… If Salah had done that we’d be talking about it a lot more. It was great technique.
“Alioski is asked to play a lot of different positions but he has kind of found his home in the left-back, left-wing back position, and I think he is playing very well at the moment.
“He did especially well on Saturday when you consider that Huddersfield is a tough place to go.”
Leeds play again on Tuesday night when they host Hull City at Elland Road.
A win would see them move to the top of the table again, with West Brom playing on Wednesday night.
The two sides are playing leapfrog at the moment – both are on six wins in a row and are pulling away from the other sides in the Championship.
Fulham, in third, are eight points behind Leeds and 10 behind West Brom at the top.
