Exclusive: Leeds to announce Kristoffer Klaesson today

Leeds United are set to announce the signing of Valerenga goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson today.

Norwegian journalist Stian Andre De Wahl has exclusively shared the news with MOT Leeds News as the Whites continue their summer business.

Klaesson arrived in England at the start of the week, and will finish his quarantine this morning before completing his medical and announcing the move.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, De Wahl shared the move shall be completed today barring any last-gasp problems.

“I’m hearing Friday if nothing changes from today,” he said.

“When his quarantine is over.”

Done deal.

There were problems regarding a potential work permit for Klaesson, but they appear to have been ironed out.

Fabrizio Romano shared that the Norweigian stopper will put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal at Elland Road, keeping him at the club until 2026.

This deal was needed, especially after Kiko Casilla sealed his loan exit to Spanish side Elche in the past fortnight.

Klaesson was first identified at the same time as Illan Meslier by Victor Orta and his team, and it looks as though both will be working together.

Marcelo Bielsa uses the system of if they are good enough, they are old enough, so having two young keepers battling for his number one spot won’t bother him.

The medical and media duties will need to be completed before it is announced, so it may not be until this afternoon or evening before it is officially announced.

Another one through the door, the midfield will surely be the next target.
