Exclusive: Leeds ‘offer unprecedented money’ to Jose Mourinho after bombshell

Jose Mourinho has been on the lips of everyone around Elland Road after Leeds United were promoted back to the Premier League weeks ago.

After doubts emerged over the future of Daniel Farke, it was revealed that Paraag Marathe had offered the job to the Special One in LS11.

Despite those suggestions, Marathe came out to shut them down and back Farke ahead of Premier League football returning to West Yorkshire, with fans in support.

Leeds offer big money to Mourinho

Richard Keys stated that Mourinho actually turned the Leeds job down, if he is to be believed.

Dan Plumley admits that Leeds would likely have had to offer more money than they ever had to a manager, in hopes of an appointment.

The football finance expert says rumours will always be there at Elland Road, but big names such as Mourinho come at a premium cost.

“If you’re talking those kinds of names,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“It’s been interesting with Farke and the chairman coming out and saying ‘he’s our man’, so that kind of put that one to bed for now.

These rumours are always likely to be there, and with the Qatari links, you can see where some of this gets to that level.

If you’re talking ambitious plans and in the future, who knows? If you’re talking managers of that calibre, it’s probably going to be more than you’ve paid for managers in the past, given where Leeds have been.

“We take it with a pinch of salt as always, but those kinds of managers come with a cost, for sure.”

Farke deserves Leeds United stay

With many bringing up his record from Norwich in the Premier League, you also have to take into account the lack of financial backing for new signings.

Nobody would have been able to achieve success under those restrictions, but now it is time to prove it under the 49ers at Leeds.

Mourinho at Leeds would be loved by the media, but would it ever work? There are serious doubts.

The 49ers need to use their investment to get this squad ready for the Premier League, not wasting money on a big name who wants to make it all about him.
