Exclusive: Leeds ‘big plans’ revealed as Rasmus Kristensen transfer agreed
Leeds United have agreed to sell Rasmus Kristensen to Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee lower than initially discussed, with a bigger picture at play.
Kristensen joined Frankfurt on a season-long loan from Leeds last summer and has since established himself as a regular for the Bundesliga club, making 32 appearances across all competitions.
It took little time for the German outfit to be convinced about pursuing a permanent deal for the Denmark international, although they did not want the £9.9million fee previously agreed between the two clubs.
It emerged last week that Frankfurt have finally struck a deal with Leeds to sign the right-back for £4.9m, with add-ons possibly taking the sum to £6.6m.

Leeds looking at ‘bigger picture’ as Frankfurt get their man
The fact that the Elland Road outfit have agreed to sell Kristensen for almost half of the agreed fee has come as a surprise to many, after the £10m to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022.
However, Dan Plumley has suggested that this is the “right deal” for Leeds to do, considering other factors including amortisation.

The football finance expert also pointed out that Daniel Farke’s side might be looking at the “bigger picture” and “bigger plans” they have ahead of potentially earning promotion to the Premier League.
“You have to look at the bigger picture of the transfer, not just the fee in and out, but the amortisation of the player’s registration, the wages and everything like that“, Plumley told MOT Leeds News exclusively.
“So, it’s not as simple as saying the transfer fee in and the transfer fee out is the net difference, so there’s that to factor in as well.
“When you see these things from time to time, sometimes you just need to make that deal happen, and again, look at the bigger picture of where Leeds are in the league, and bigger plans for next season maybe.
“[It’s] looking likely that there’s a fair chance they’ll get promoted, so when you factor all of that in… yes, you look at these decisions in isolation, but you need to take into account the bigger picture of where the club are at the minute, and sometimes it’s the right deal to do to shift that player on at that point in time.”

Kristensen to end three-year spell at Elland Road
While there is an agreement between Leeds and Frankfurt over Kristensen’s transfer, it will not be made official for a few weeks.
The Dane was a regular for the West Yorkshire outfit in his first season in England, bagging three goals and an assist in 26 Premier League appearances.
However, he joined AS Roma on a season-long loan after the Whites suffered relegation at the end of the 2022-23 season.
With a permanent transfer to Frankfurt all but done, the 27-year-old is set to end his three-year association with Leeds.
