Exclusive: Keith Hackett reveals if FA will ban Alioski for final Leeds game of season
We’re delighted to welcome former Premier League referee Keith Hackett to the MOT Leeds News team. Each week, Hackett will discuss the big moments from the latest Leeds United games and deliver his verdict on whether his successors got their calls right or wrong…
Keith Hackett has said that even if Gjanni Alioksi is charged by the FA over the incident in the game against Burnley last weekend, it won’t hit him this season.
A report has been filed to the FA after Alioksi made a gesture towards Dwight McNeill after the Burnley player said something to him while he was on the ground.
However, Hackett has said that it looks like Alioksi is leaving in the summer when it would become someone else’s problem.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Hackett said, “The general view coming from Leeds is that he’s likely to be leaving in the summer.
“It will take 7-10 days at the earliest for the FA to do anything.
“A report will go in from the clubs and match officials, that’s pretty quick by the way.
“The officials will already have filed their report and that will have been in the hands of the FA by Monday morning.
“Then they’ll write to the clubs for their observations. Then there’s time for the players to seek guidance, occasionally legal advice. That’s where the delay comes in.
“There will be a thorough investigation.”
We’re still hoping that this blows over and doesn’t put a blot on the Leeds copybook in what’s been a brilliant season.
However, it doesn’t look like it’s going to affect Leeds on the pitch.
