Exclusive: 49ers green light ‘multi-million’ pay out already at Leeds United

Leeds United are finally back in the Premier League, and it has been a wild couple of weeks in West Yorkshire already.

From celebrations at Elland Road to the wild bus parade in the city centre on Monday, the Leeds squad have earned this jubilation by lifting the Championship title.

While Paraag Marathe has been in the thick of the celebrations, the 49ers Enterprises have already put plans in place to take Leeds to the next level.

Elland Road plans get green light

Work on expanding Elland Road to a 53,000 capacity could begin as early as September, with the full works likely complete by 2030.

Dan Plumley has insisted that it will cost the 49ers “multimillion”, with expansion work not coming cheap in the modern age of football stadiums.

The football finance expert shared that the work will be easier as a Premier League club, with the long-term revenue growth already noted.

“You’re still looking at multimillions,” Plumley exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“These things don’t come cheap, of course, but if you’re talking about expansion rather than a new stadium, it obviously makes it slightly cheaper.

Whichever way you cut it, it is a significant outlay, but if you’re looking for long-term revenue growth, you’re looking at the payback period and how long it will take to recoup some of that money.

Ultimately, that will all be easier and quicker as the Premier League club they now are.”

Demand very clear at Leeds United

With over 20,000 on the season-ticket waiting list, you only have to look at the crowds of 150,000 celebrating the bus parade on Monday to see why this is a sensible move.

Leeds remained one of the better-earning and well-supported clubs in England, even in the Championship, so promotion to the Premier League continues that.

The final three games of the season also just highlighted that crazy support, with amazing scenes against Bristol and Stoke, followed by fans in the home end at Plymouth somehow.

The Elland Road expansion work cannot begin soon enough, and credit must go to Marathe and the 49ers Enterprises immediately.
