Emi Buendia transfer to Leeds United ‘given green light’ by Thorp Arch insider
Leeds United have been heavily linked with Aston Villa’s Emi Buendia and Paul Robinson would love the signing to be made before 3 February.
According to Graham Smyth, the Whites believe Buendia will be far more attracted by a loan move to La Liga than the Championship, though this has not dampened spirits at Elland Road.
Having worked with Daniel Farke during their time together at Norwich City, many fans believe a deal could be struck before the winter transfer window closes, and Robinson wants to see this happen.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: “They’re the type of signings that excite fans. With the names being linked, you’re not going to get excited over a centre-half, but with Buendia, we know he can do it at this level.
“He scores goals, whether plays wide, off the main striker, or just in the No.10 role. Aaronson has done okay in recent weeks but Buendia is a step up from Aaronson. If he comes in, he plays in the No.10 role.
“Buendia would absolutely play – he’s a top player. He’s not the No.9 that’s going to score 15 to 20 goals and guarantee promotion, but where they are now, 17 points ahead of sixth place, the very worst case is play-offs.
Emi Buendia to finish the Leeds United puzzle?
“Automatic promotion is almost a must, and with a small investment in the squad this month, they can ensure that. Signing Buendia would add a lot of quality. That would be a great signing.”
Leeds have rarely had a weak spot in their starting XI this season, but there is absolutely no doubt that Buendia would be an incredible addition before the transfer window slams shut.

Having only made 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, and Unai Emery stating that he could leave in this window, Elland Road seems like the perfect destination for him.
However, signing him from the Premier League giants could make a deal quite difficult, especially if a move to La Liga is his preference.
