Don Goodman shares what he’s personally been told about Leeds United keeper Illan Meslier
Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier “was not doing well” in the aftermath of the recent 2-2 draw against Sunderland, according to Don Goodman.
Meslier was at fault in a bizarre moment in the seventh minute of added time at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland scored a freak late equaliser.
The Frenchman was seen smiling at the full-time whistle, but Sky Sports pundit Goodman has rubbished suggestions the under-fire keeper did not care about his error.
“My heart goes out to Meslier – nobody makes mistakes deliberately,” he told MOT Leeds News.
“It’s a massive mistake that cost his side two points, although I don’t think it’ll matter come the end of the season because I expect Leeds to be in the top two.
“When I asked Daniel Farke how he was doing afterwards, he told me he was not doing well.“
Illan Meslier set to start for Leeds United v Sheffield United
The error against Sunderland two weeks ago was certainly not the first Meslier has made in a Leeds top, but it was the highest-profile of the lot.
Given the circumstances, with the equaliser coming from the last meaningful act of the game, and the fact the contest was being televised, Meslier was hounded by many.

Karl Darlow is waiting in the wings, but Farke looks set to stick with his number one for the massive match against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
All eyes will be on Meslier, and it is down to the goalkeeper to ensure no further errors follow.
In other Leeds United news, Goodman expects a Leeds regular to drop to the bench against Sheffield United.
