Don Goodman shares what Daniel Farke makes of Leeds United fans’ discontent
Don Goodman is confident Daniel Farke will continue to embrace the challenge of being Leeds United manager, despite some fans being disgruntled.
The Whites have won just two of their opening five Championship matches this season and most recently lost 1-0 at home to Burnley, placing them ninth in the early standings.
A number of fans aired their discontent on the back of the defeat to Burnley, but Goodman believes Leeds will ultimately come good as the season progresses.
“Having had many chats with Daniel, it’s a challenge he’ll embrace and will want,” Goodman told MOT Leeds News. “There has been an awful lot of rumblings of discontent after the first few games, but when you break it down, they absolutely battered Portsmouth but gave away three stupid goals.
“Then there was the Carabao Cup loss to Middlesbrough, but that was the best thing that could have happened because it forced them to reset and understand you cannot concede six goals in two games and have any success – whether in the league or cup.
“They had to stop that and they did, going away to West Brom and – respectfully – playing as negatively as I can remember them playing. They wanted to stop the flow of goals in their net, rather than taking risks and winning it. The emphasis has been to stop conceding goals, which they have largely done.”
Leeds United need to find some momentum
The Whites appeared to get their campaign fully on track with successive wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City by the same 2-0 scoreline.
However, the loss to Burnley – a team they will likely have to finish above this season – means a pretty good start to the season has now been downgraded to average.
The bottom line is that Leeds simply have to go up to the Premier League this season, so Farke will be judged solely on that.

Next up is a trip to bottom side Cardiff City – traditionally a pretty difficult fixture for the Leeds, albeit less so in recent years – before games with Coventry City and Norwich City.
The target from those three games has to be at least two victories, ideally three, and that will ensure Farke’s men remain firmly in the playoff picture.
