Leeds United exit verdict as Sky Sports pundit asked if stars will force Elland Road tranfers
Don Goodman does not expect any Leeds United players to go on strike to force an exit in the same manner as last summer.
Willy Gnonto took desperate measures to try to orchestrate a move away from Elland Road last August in a ploy that did not work.
The Italy international knuckled down after the transfer window closed, but he now faces the prospect of another year of Championship football.
Other high-profile stars will also be eager to get away and back in the Premier League, but Goodman does not expect a repeat of last year.
When the prospect of a player going on strike was raised, Goodman told MOT Leeds News: “No, I don’t think that’ll be the case.
“I think the players will respect the club, and they’ll respect Daniel Farke more than anything. He handled those situations incredibly well last year.
“I was really impressed by him. That’s why I’d give the job he’s done at Leeds an upgrade because he walked into a real mess.”
Leeds United set to lose key players
The general consensus since losing to Southampton in the play-off final is that Crysencio Summerville is the player most likely to leave Leeds.
Summerville was named the Championship’s Player of the Season for 2023-24 and can generate a huge profit for United if he moves on.
While others will no doubt attract interest, Gnonto among them, the fees offered by interested clubs will determine whether Leeds cash in.

And that is where things could potentially get messy. If a team offers £15m for Gnonto, say, Leeds have every right to reject that offer.
Lessons have hopefully been learned from 12 months ago, however, and this should be a summer of slightly less drama at Elland Road.
