Doctor shares Djed Spence injury update ahead of Leeds United v Blackburn Rovers

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United defender Djed Spence will still be reeling from the effects of his injury and recovering to be ready to play 90 minutes again, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he is unlikely to start or play the full 90 minutes against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, 9 December.

Spence returned to the bench for the 3-2 win against Middlesbrough but was an unused substitute for the Whites.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Spence:

It is difficult to give a timeline on when he’s fully fit because it all depends on how he’s responding to training and minutes.

The coaching staff have said fitness and rhythm are the key impediments holding him back so they will keep a close eye on him as he continues to progress.

He will still be reeling from the effects of the injury so unlikely to start or play 90 minutes for a game or two.

Spence has just played a handful of minutes for the Whites this season and now he aims to win his place back into the team.

The pecking order looks slightly different now than what it was when he got injured as Daniel Farke has made the most of the versatility of some of his players.

Jamie Shackleton and Archie Gray, two central midfielders, have been converted to play as right-backs and are arguably ahead of Spence in the hierarchy.

In other Leeds United news, the club are now mooted to fast-track a January move for a ‘Phenomenal’ player as his transfer stance emerges.
