Daniel Farke ‘to axe Aaronson’ v Millwall amid Leeds social media outrage

Daniel Farke might have to consider dropping Brenden Aaronson as Leeds United prepare to face Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday.

While the USA international has eight goals and two assists to his name in the Championship this season, the manager has been tipped to bench him ahead of the fourth-round clash at Elland Road on 8 February.

The 24-year-old has earned the trust of the manager this season, having jumped from the sinking ship in the summer of 2023, joining Union Berlin on loan while Leeds were relegated to the Championship.

He has since returned to Elland Road, becoming an integral part of Farke’s title-chasing team, starting 29 of the Whites’ 31 league matches this term, but he remains a controversial figure.

Many of his performances, even despite the goal contributions, are slated by the fans, especially by those on social media [Beren Cross], and many feel it may be time to replace him against the Lions.

Manor Solomon could take No.10 spot

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Farke seems to trust him but he’s a player I’ve talked about all season. The manager has openly said before the transfer window that the No.10 role has been looked at.

“I like Joel Piroe in that role, but looking at the players at his disposal, Manor Solomon and Dan James could both play there. Take Aaronson out, and play James instead, or Solomon – he’s been brilliant.”

“Putting the Welshman there might mean losing a bit of his pace, so Largie Ramazani can play at No.10, so too can Gnonto. He’s got the option to change it up and I think he should.”

Leeds United loan star ready for new position

Dropping down from the Premier League on a season-long loan from Tottenham, Solomon has been a breath of fresh air for the supporters.

The Israeli international has made the left-wing spot his own, now boasting six goals and six assists in 24 Championship appearances, and he has been known to play in the attacking-midfield position.

With Leeds’ main focus on winning promotion, an FA Cup clash against Millwall could give Farke a chance to experiment, which could see Aaronson dropping to the bench and Solomon starring in a new role.

While Robinson believes multiple of the current attackers could move into a different role, it is the Tottenham loanee who he picked out to star in the middle of the park.
