Daniel Farke ‘right to make fuss’ as Leeds United make signing behind his back
Daniel Farke is right to be annoyed after Leeds United signed Ao Tanaka on Deadline Day without his say-so, according to Dan Bardell.
Rheinische Post reported to their print edition on 3 September (page D4) that the Japan international was never the first-choice midfield option for the Whites during the transfer window.
There were disagreements between the club and Farke over the signing of the 25-year-old from Dusseldorf after other deals were rejected.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has backed the German for his reaction but has suggested that it is a common trope of modern football.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “That’s the nature of football clubs and their setups right now.
“A lot of signings are put to managers and a lot are made who aren’t the manager’s pick.
“I’ve heard good things about Tanaka and his start at Leeds but Farke is a strong character and if he hasn’t been informed how he thought he should be, he has the right to make a fuss.
“He is the manager and has to pick the team but this is just the way that football is now.“
Daniel Farke unhappy with Ao Tanaka signing at Leeds United
The irony with this transfer is that the 25-year-old is already a fan favourite at Elland Road after a short cameo against Hull City.
Farke won’t think that Tanaka is a bad player or refuse to play him but will be frustrated with how the deal has been completed.
There is no real need for the club’s hierarchy to go above the German coach and do transfer dealings without his involvement.

The Whites may just get away with it this time because the ex-Dusseldorf could turn out to be an excellent addition, especially in the Championship.
