Daniel Farke ‘justified’ after what he said about Leeds promotion chances
Daniel Farke remained highly optimistic about Leeds United’s promotion chances despite their recent drop in form.
Leeds’ recent 2-2 draw with Swansea City signalled their second straight draw, and just one win in their last five Championship encounters.
That drop has seen the Whites fall off the summit of the division, though Leeds still have promotion in their own hands as it stands.
Despite that worrying lack of form, Farke still spoke well about his side, leaving many to question whether he had set himself up for the sack at Leeds.

Leeds remain in driving seat to achieve promotion
Farke is under a lot of pressure to deliver promotion this season, and many believed he hadn’t helped his case when claiming he was 100 per cent sure that his side would be playing Premier League football next season.
However, Paul Robinson, when speaking to MOT Leeds News, thinks that the German was right to say what he did, and believes it will prove to be a good thing.
He said: “Farke has been criticised for saying that he’s 100 per cent sure that Leeds are going to go up. I mean, what do you expect him to say? Oh, well, yeah, we’ve had a couple of dodgy results. I’m not sure. I’m only about 80 per cent now. You don’t want to hear that.
“You want to hear your manager saying, look, I’m absolutely 100 per cent confident we’re going up. And it was always the same when you play for England, you know, pre-tournament, you go into a World Cup, you go into the Euros, a journalist asks you, do you think you can win the tournament?
Championship | W | D | L | P |
Sheffield United | 26 | 7 | 6 | 83 |
Leeds | 23 | 12 | 4 | 81 |
Burnley | 22 | 15 | 2 | 81 |
“But you’re not going to turn around to a journalist and say, well, realistically, probably not. We might get to the quarters or semis. You’re going to say, yeah, we’re going to go to win the tournament. Headline the next day, England goalkeeper says, England are going to win the tournament.
“You’re stuck as a player and a manager. You can’t turn around and say, oh, yeah, we’ll settle for a quarterfinal. That’d be okay, because that’s not what you’re going to do. And Daniel Farke, by saying he’s 100% confident, he’s going to win promotion. I like that.“

Championship failure is not an option for Leeds
Taking everything into account, their squad, the lead they had earlier in the season, as well as their remaining fixtures, it would be a disaster if Leeds don’t get promoted.
However, for that to be achieved, performances need to improve significantly, and consistency needs to be found.
Farke will be well aware of the need to achieve promotion, having been afforded another shot at it after the failures of the previous campaign.
