Daniel Farke could be ‘set for FA fine’ after recent Leeds United trouble

Daniel Farke may have picked up a touchline ban for the win at Sheffield United recently, but more trouble could be headed towards Leeds United, Dan Plumley says.

The German was in the stands for the 3-1 win at Bramall Lane on Monday after his celebrations in another late win over Sunderland earned him his third yellow card of the season.

Farke was backed by the likes of Neil Warnock over the ridiculous decision but will have been delighted his Leeds side could still extend their lead at the top of the Championship.

Plumley admits that a fine will depend on how serious the FA deem the actions of Farke.

Given he was celebrating a 95th-minute winner at Elland Road against a direct promotion rival, at the time, stepping a few yards onto the pitch isn’t exactly disgusting behaviour.

The football finance expert admits that managers will always run the risk of punishment when emotions get the better of them, but nobody wants to see strict outcomes following jubilant scenes.

“It could be,” Plumley exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“You need to take into account the severity of the offence, and we saw what happened with Everton and Liverpool in the last week or so, this one didn’t seem as bad.

You do run the risk these days, there has got to be common sense applied at certain points, you understand the celebrations for things like that given the last-minute winner, but it’s likely that sometimes you get fined for these things.

I think the FA will be looking at how seriously they view it, which may mean that this one is not as bad and may just be a caution. You do run the risk, though, nobody wants to end up in this space but that’s not what you’re thinking about when emotions are high on the pitch, but it’s a risk.”

After two goals late on against Sunderland, the same happened again at Sheffield United.

Junior Firpo, Ao Tanaka and Joel Piroe secured another huge three points, and the FA could be investigating scenes from that match too, in the coming weeks.

Farke took his punishment in the stands at Bramall Lane, and given he accepted the decision from the officials at the time, hopefully, it goes no further.
