Dan Plumley: Leeds United pull off smart financial move with new Amazon series confirmed
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United are set to earn money from their latest new series as Amazon confirmed the upcoming release of an academy special.
The Finance Expert has admitted that there will be sponsorship and commercial opportunities for the club, and it is also different to what has already been made.
Leeds have done their “All or Nothing” type series that most clubs are now doing, but the academy spin-off will be one of the first of its kind on Amazon.
“We have seen how well received some of these documentaries have been,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“Everyone else is now looking at that, the differentiator is smart because it gives it a different focus but less invasive for the club. It’s relatively low-risk and low-cost to roll the dice on it and see what it generates, there will be money in that through sponsorship and commercial opportunities.

“It is a smart play and something a little different.”
After all of the work done by Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani over the years, our academy has become one of the most successful yet again in terms of results.
The documentary will follow the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, two of who have tasted success at the first-team level over the past year in the Premier League.
This could start a new style of documentary for Amazon, which may now focus on academies more often, although it will likely depend on the financial success, both for the club and them.
All eyes may be on the windfall for Radz.
