Dan Plumley: Andrea Radrizzani will have Leeds United exit strategy before full takeover after DAZN news

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Andrea Radrizzani will have his exit strategy for when the San Francisco 49ers take full control of Leeds United.

The Finance Expert admitted that there are many moving parts behind this with external wealth part of the factor for the Italian, as well as the right time to buy and sell.

It comes after Radrizzani’s company Eleven Sports were acquired by DAZN group which will add an extra £277million-a-year to their revenue [Business People].

“Theoretically yes, all of these factors will be in play behind the scenes,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“There’s also a lot of moving parts as the option is up until 2024, so there are some lines in the sand to be drawn. This is another moving part, Radrizzani has got his exit strategy at some point, most owners do, you just don’t know when that will take place.

“He will have in mind the price for Leeds in regards to that and his own external wealth, the 49ers will also be smart with it by looking at the best times to invest or buy, as they have done in the past with stakes.

“There is a lot going on behind the scenes to activate those two things but front and centre is that the partnership between the two appears strong.

“So, when you’re looking at a takeover further down the line, that relationship and there will be a time where they ready to buy or there ready to sell.”

The San Francisco 49ers Enterprises have the option to complete a full takeover of Leeds United before 2024, although it could happen at any point up until then.

Radrizzani was in San Francisco over the weekend and appeared in a Q&A with the likes of Paraag Marathe, as their relationship continues to grow stronger.

There is no certainty that the 49ers taking over would see the back of Radrizzani though, but that deal is in place and could happen at any time – keep your eyes peeled.
