Crysencio Summerville exit from Leeds United now ‘inevitable’ as David Norris shares transfer claim

Former Leeds United midfielder David Norris says it is “inevitable” that Crysencio Summerville will leave Elland Road this summer.

The Dutchman has been the subject of extensive Premier League interest which has ramped up since Leeds failed to earn promotion via the Championship play-offs [Phil Hay].

The club must balance the books by the end of this month in order to comply with PSR ruling, as per the Daily Mail, with Summerville considered to be the sale for whom they can scoop the most cash.

“I think he goes – and it makes sense financially for the club, for the player, and hopefully they’d bring in an amount to replace him with someone decent or keep [some of] the other lads around,” Norris exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He’s got a lot of interest in him, and I think it’s going to be inevitable that he leaves the club.

“With Leeds not going up, I think he’ll want to spread his wings to see how far he can go. He’s had a good season, and they’ll get a good fee.”

Summerville on his way out of Leeds United

While there has been no major rush on Summerville’s departure, Leeds United must get their finances in order by 30 June – helped considerably by the club’s high-profile sponsorship deal with Red Bull.

Owners 49ers Enterprises will be keen to provide Daniel Farke with a strong squad to go one better next season, despite the agonising fact that 90 points still wasn’t enough to take the club back into the top flight at the first time of asking.

Summerville should recoup a fee of around the £30m mark, especially with European contenders such as Liverpool and Chelsea circling the 22-year-old.

Norris makes the point that letting their main man fly the nest could enable Leeds to keep hold of other big hitters, whom they could build their squad around – some have tipped Wilfried Gnonto to stay at Elland Road despite the Italy forward being heavily linked away.

Farke must retain plenty of his top talent whilst upstairs look after the balance sheet.
