‘Coming back to Leeds’ – Exclusive: Whites urged to re-sign £60k/wk former star in Jan – pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that Leeds should bring Danny Rose back to Elland Road in the January window.
Rose has been frozen out by Jose Mourinho at Spurs and restricted to just Premier League 2 games this season.
Robinson believes the left-back – on a reported £60k-a-week – needs regular football to have any chance of forcing his way back into the England set-up ahead of the Euros next summer.
Rose is out of contract in the summer and has spent the last 13 years at Tottenham after moving there from Leeds for a fee of just under £1m.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Rose said, “If there’s an opportunity to bring Rose in and if he’s hungry to play and maybe force himself into the England set-up…
“He’s not going to get anywhere near the squad if he’s not playing football and he’s not going to any first-team football where he is at the moment.
“Coming back to Leeds should be an option that’s very attractive to him
“He’s played here before and it’s a position where Leeds have struggled this year.
“Stuart Dallas, as good a utility man as he is, isn’t a natural left-back.
“Gjanni Alioski has struggled defensively and it’s a flank where teams are targeting us.
“Danny Rose could be a really good addition if he’s available.”
Fans are split over Rose but the majority don’t see him as a solution for Leeds going forward.
His attitude has been questioned at Spurs and he’s not played any first-team football all season.
Leeds do need a left-back but we think there are too many reasons against Rose making a return to Elland Road this January.
