Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist claim emerges as Leeds United eye transfer

Leeds United will conduct thorough checks over Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist’s fitness if they are to sign him, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that as the 20-year-old is relatively new to senior football and has not played regularly week in and week out, there are risks involved with this deal.

The Blues are understood to be willing to listen to offers for the right-back, who’s capable of playing centre-back, amid interest from the Whites. [Football London, 15 June]

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds NewsBrar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Gilchrist:

He has not played too many minutes but there aren’t any significant worries in terms of injuries.

Leeds will be looking at his overall fitness metrics and understanding the types of habits he has as well.

Hasn’t played too many minutes so have to go off other items. I reckon after a thorough analysis they’ll perhaps arrive at a conclusion that he could be someone starting week in and week out.

Leeds United must consider Alfie Gilchrist transfer

Gilchrist would be a solid signing for the Whites this summer.

The 20-year-old Chelsea defender has already shown his potential in the Premier League, making 11 league appearances last season.

His versatility to play as a right-back or centre-back would provide Leeds with much-needed defensive depth.

Gilchrist’s loan move to Elland Road would allow him to gain valuable experience in the Championship, a league known for its competitiveness and physicality and also benefit Daniel Farke’s side.
