Meslier claim made as Leeds United look to complete ‘excellent’ Kelleher transfer
Caoimhin Kelleher has emerged as a potential target for Leeds United ahead of the summer transfer window.
As for now, Leeds will be fixated on securing their status in the Premier League, though they will have one eye on any potential summer dealing on the recruitment front.
Heading into the final eight games of the campaign, Leeds remain in the driving seat to achieve promotion, and if achieved, it would open the door to a world of possibility when it comes to transfers.
One of those linked with Leeds United is Kelleher [Give Me Sport], though the likelihood of a deal materialising will hinge on several factors.

Leeds will have one eye on the transfer window
Whether or not Leeds get promoted will have a big say in regard to the dealings that occur over the summer transfer window, with Kelleher’s potential move likely to follow suit.
Leeds will need to get promoted if they are to have a chance of capturing his signature, though Paul Robinson – when speaking to MOT Leeds News – thinks the Irishman will need more than that to decide on a switch to Elland Road.
“That’d be a great signing,” Robinson said.
“Kelleher, that type of level of goalkeeper. I said before about Illan Meslier, I like Meslier. I think he’s a good goalkeeper. And I think he’s got all the attributes to be a top goalkeeper.
“But I think he needs a number one alongside him. They don’t need a number or number two. They need somebody who can go head-to-head with them at the start of the season and say, look, I’m here for the number one jersey. Kelleher would be an excellent option.
Caoimhin Kelleher | Appearances |

Carabao Cup | 4 |
Premier League | 8 |
All comeptitions | 16 |
“But you’re only getting Kelleher if you guarantee him first-team football. So he’s not going to come to Leeds and be in the same situation. He would be a great signing .
“He’d certainly be an upgrade. I think the experience that he’s got in the Premier League, the big games that he’s already played in. And it’s going to be time for him to move on.
“But that’s got to become a priority position for Leeds in the window, as is a number nine. If they go up, it’s a key position – that and striker.”

Leeds need to upgrade on Meslier
Especially if promotion is achieved, Leeds need to sign a replacement for Meslier if they are to have any chance of staying in the Premier League.
However, as of now, no one is fully aware as to whether promotion will be achieved, showcasing where the focus needs to be ahead of the final run-in.
A failure to achieve promotion would be a disaster for Leeds, and one that they simply need to avoid at all costs.
