Burnley favourites to win Championship as approach made to sign Leeds United dazzler Cody Drameh - BBC pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Cody Drameh needs to leave Leeds United on loan for a club where he’s guaranteed to start games this season, according to Paul Robinson.
Drameh, 21, joined Cardiff on loan this time last year and went on to play 22 times for them and winning their player of the season award.
However, since returning to Leeds, he’s played just twice in the first team with just one of those appearances coming in the Premier League.
The Athletic reported on 26 December that Burnley and Watford have both approached Leeds with enquiries about signing Drameh on loan in January.
And Robinson believes that while Burnley look likely to win the Championship title, he’s warned Drameh that he must choose a club where he’s going to play weekly.
“Burnley definitely look like the ones to catch at the top of the Championship. They look like they’re going to win it,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“If Drameh moves there he’d need an opportunity to play every week.
“I’d be cautious of going somewhere you’re not going to play every week because you may as well stay at Leeds.
“But for him personally, if he’s going to go on loan for the rest of the season that he goes to play and doesn’t sit on the bench being a bit-part player.”
Drameh hasn’t made a matchday squad in the Premier League for Leeds since he started and played 70 minutes of the 5-2 defeat at Brentford on 3 September.
In other Leeds United news, the club is thrashing out terms for an early January signing after this player jetted into the UK for a move.
