Brenden Aaronson slammed at Leeds United after what he done this season

Paul Robinson has compared Brenden Aaronson to a "wasp in a bottle" following his recent appearances for Leeds United.

The 23-year-old American has returned to Elland Road after a season-long loan with Bundesliga side Union Berlin, having jumped ship following Leeds' relegation from the Premier League.

While it was expected that Aaronson would have to earn back the trust of the Elland Road faithful, he has now started the last two Championship matches for the Whites, greeted with a mixed reaction.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: "Aaronson has played alright over the last two games but he's not my cup of tea, not my favourite player, especially in that No.10 role.

"At times, he's a bit like a wasp in a bottle. He lacks defensive responsibility and capabilities."

Daniel Farke continues to trust Brenden Aaronson at Leeds United

Aaronson's return to West Yorkshire got off to quite the start, having scored a last-gasp equaliser against Portsmouth in the opening game of the season before squandering the chance to take all three points.

Since, the midfielder looks to have emerged as an important player for Farke in the attacking midfield role, especially after Georginio Rutter's move to Brighton this summer.

The Frenchman's exit, of course, has left giant boots to fill and Aaronson is nowhere near the same level, but the manager has to work with what he's been left with over the summer.

There is no doubt that the American can make major improvements during the campaign, as Robinson alludes to, but that will come with time as Leeds look to claim promotion this season.

With Joel Piroe on the bench and the additions of Largie Ramazani, Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon, there is no guarantee that Aaronson will keep his spot in the starting XI.
