Archie Gray not fazed by Leeds United game time amid ‘biggest attribute’ verdict

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United …

Archie Gray has “not been fazed” by his consistent game time this season at Leeds United after his excellent start this season, according to Paul Robinson.

Having not played a minute of senior football for the Whites last season, much of the Elland Road faithful have been surprised by Gray’s frequent gametime after starting the opening seven Championship fixtures for Daniel Farke.

The 17-year-old has been an unexpected star of Leeds’ season and played a significant role in their uptick in form, going unbeaten for the last six second-division clashes and climbing up to sixth in the Championship table.

Robinson has been blown away by the youngster’s tremendous start to the campaign, claiming his “biggest attribute” which forces Farke to select him is his comfortability in a tough position and ability to play well with his teammates.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Gray’s good enough to start. It’s the case that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough. He’s certainly in that bracket.

“He’s had an excellent start to the season. He’s possibly unlucky to lose his place at the weekend, with Glen Kamara coming into the team meaning he didn’t play.

“So for him, it was possibly just taking him out and giving him a rest. The fact the manager is willing to play him there from the start of the season shows you the quality that he’s got. He’s not been fazed by it.

“Gray’s looked very comfortable alongside Ampadu and that’s the biggest attribute you can pay to him is that he’s had an impact and he hasn’t looked uncomfortable in that position.

“For a player at such a young age, it’s a fantastic attribute to have.”
