Angry Victor Orta scenes leave pundit baffled as Phil Hay shares what Leeds United fan said

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson is baffled by the “comical” scenes that took place at Elland Road after Leeds United secured a late draw against Brentford on Saturday.

Victor Orta was seen remonstrating angrily with a home fan after Patrick Bamford netted a last-ditch equaliser.

According to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay, Orta’s explosive reaction was triggered by a fan saying that the director of football needs to sort the squad out in January.

Robinson was none the wiser about that when he spoke to MOT Leeds News this week but he feels as though Orta should have muted his reaction as it’s always going to be the reaction that gets caught by cameras.

“It was very strange,” Robinson said.

“I don’t know what went on or what was said but, as we know, Victor’s very passionate.

He got over-involved with a fan and when you’re sat in the directors’ box and representing the club, it’s best you don’t do that regardless of what was said or what was done.

But I think something must have been said or words were exchanged and he was making his point.

Robinson added: “Angus was laughing and trying to hold him back. It was quite a comical scene and his passion just spilt over.

But you cannot do that when you’re representing the club. It’s always you who will fall foul of any authority of TV cameras because it’ll never be the original incident that’s caught.”

Since Orta’s angry exchange with the fan, Leeds have been dealt injury blows of Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo while Robin Koch has also suffered an illness.

Pascal Struijk has also been out with an injury lately and Luke Ayling has only just returned from a long-term absense.

If Orta feels as though a late equaliser at home against newly-promoted Brentford proves that Leeds fan wrong, he needs to think again.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are hot on the heels of this international striker after a 20-goal season.
