Exclusive: Pundit claims Leeds must pay whatever it takes for ‘absolutely essential signing’

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that Leeds must do everything in their power and “pay what’s needed” to sign Ben White on a permanent deal.

The former Leeds star said that White is an “absolutely essential signing” who gives Marcelo Bielsa defensive security and a huge option in midfield.

White has played in every Championship game so far this season and helped Leeds to the best defensive record in the league.

Asked who Leeds should sign if they get promoted, Robinson said exclusively to MOT Leeds News: “The obvious two for me would be Jack Harrison and Ben White.

“White would be an absolutely essential signing for me and Leeds should do whatever it takes to make that happen.

“Leeds should pay whatever’s needed to secure his services because he’s been a vital player this season, not just at centre-back, but also in the holding midfield role when Kalvin Phillips has been out. It’s a huge option for Bielsa to have.

“If there was a chance of signing White that would be a must for me. And Jack Harrison, the way he’s come through the team this season, he’d be another must.”

If both of these players are at Elland Road next season then Leeds will have been promoted to the Premier League.

It won’t be easy to sign White, though, after he’s impressed teams like Man United, Man City and Liverpool.

Leeds don’t have an option to buy White but they do have an £8m option for Harrison, which we would expect them to trigger if promoted.
