'Absolute certainty' - Exclusive: Paul Robinson makes big summer claim about Ben White

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that centre-back Ben White has been “outstanding” this season but said he would “be amazed” if Leeds manage to hold onto him past the summer.

Robinson believes that Brighton would want him back “with absolute certainty” and that he expects a top-six team to come in for him too.

White is on a season-long loan from Brighton but his performances for Leeds have put him on the radar of a number of big clubs.

Football Insider has reported that Arsenal are the latest side to be credited with an interest, after Liverpool and Man United were linked previously.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Ben White has been outstanding this season.

“At 22 he’s developed into a top-class player and he’s shown how good is he when he steps into Kalvin Phillips’ position in midfield.

“Leeds have often struggled when Phillips has been out but White has stepped up.

“The defence has been great with him, Gaetano Berardi and Liam Cooper, but White is the first name on the team sheet of all three of them and he’s played 40 games already this season, which is brilliant in itself.

“He’s only played two games for his parent club Brighton and I’m sure they’d love him back given their situation.

“I think he’d be playing week-in, week-out if he was back there.

“The only problem as far as White goes for Leeds is that there are bigger suitors looking at him.

“I’d be amazed if Leeds were able to keep hold of him past the summer because Brighton will want him back with absolute certainty and one of the top six will come in for him.”

Leeds will definitely want to hold onto Ben White after the season he’s had.

However, the lack of an option in the loan deal means that White will be on the open market if Brighton don’t want him back.

Leeds will need to get promoted to have any chance of landing him and even then it could be tough to go up against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

The hope would be that White has enjoyed working under Bielsa and wants to carry on progressing under him in the Premier League.
