49ers Enterprises can earn Leeds United millions after new development – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United.
Dan Plumley has insisted that the 49ers Enterprises can earn Leeds United millions as they tap into the American market since their full takeover at Elland Road.
It comes after the Daily Mail reported that the view is that Leeds are the biggest club in the American market outside of the so-called big six, with pre-season tours now on the cards.
The finance expert admitted that repeat tours across the pond and how they can be leveraged commercially fit into the new strategy of the ownership structure at Elland Road.

“It’s really positive news when you view it in that regard,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“If they are the fastest growing club in the USA outside of the big six, that obviously links to the ownership position that we’ve seen develop over the years, and how many times have we said the bigger picture at play here is the American market for Leeds here?
“That’s now something they have tapped into and are looking to develop.

“In terms of what you do to activate that, you’re looking at pre-season tour options, the other ways you can activate the partnerships and how you leverage that commercially, you do expect for some of those bigger clubs and those big pre-season tours, you can be talking a few million quid.
“It’s not inconceivable that you can be talking in the low millions in the future if you can get that kind of momentum going behind those visits, and the repeat business aspect of that while everything is going that way, you’re not just doing it one year, you’re doing it year in, year out and you’re making it a longer-term play.
“That’s when you can start to see it become more lucrative. That just fits with the strategy of where that club is going, and ultimately that is linked to ownership as much as anything.”
