View: Leeds United run big risk of losing Raphinha for buttons this summer

Leeds United run the risk of losing their key man Raphinha for an embarrassingly low fee this summer.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE podcast, Fabrizio Romano reported that the Brazilian maestro could leave the Whites for as little as £25million subject to clauses.

The fee for the attacker will be determined by how successful Leeds are in their fight for Premier League survival with his price tag set to plummet should they drop down to the Championship.

The £25million price tag is less than half of the £60million the Whites’ star was valued at when several teams expressed their interest in January and the club will be absolutely desperate to stay up and avoid being robbed.

Crucial

Leeds waited 16 long years to earn promotion to the Premier League. Marcelo Bielsa revolutionised the club, like no Whites manager ever before and got the best out of every single player whilst doing so.

The Argentine turned a bunch of fairly average Championship players into world beaters in their first season in the topflight, causing a lot of upset against the top six on their way to finishing ninth in their first season.

This season has been an unforgiving one and one that new Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has to see out successfully for the long-term success of the club.

If they drop back down to the Championship you could expect many of the Whites’ key players to leave, not just Raphinha.

Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford are among the many players who could be tempted away from Elland Road as other teams come sniffing looking for bargains.

It would be devastating for the club to say the least and simply cannot afford to happen.

In other Leeds United news, Jesse Marsch instantly regrets what he told his players after the Wolves win.
