View: Leeds United receive major boost with Stuart Dallas fitness update

Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough has given Leeds United a major injury boost with his comments on Stuart Dallas, as per Leeds Live

The Whites defender is set to take on Luxembourg tonight [March 25] in an international friendly.

Dallas’ fitness was under question after Jesse Marsch admitted the 30-year-old was “suffering” after an awful tackle from Joao Moutinho in Leeds’ scintillating 3-2 comeback against Wolves.

However, Baraclough has set the record straight as Northern Ireland prepare for action and its good news for the Whites.

He told Leeds Live: “He’s phenomenal when he plays with injuries. He’s not feeling anything from that, fortunately – it was a nasty tackle. I was watching that game on TV and you do fear for what may be in the future.

“Stuart is made of teak or mahogany. It’s something you’ve really got to admire him for. He brushes himself down and makes sure he’s ready for the next game.”

Fingers crossed

With tonight just being a friendly, hopefully, Dallas doesn’t play.

From a Leeds perspective, he just isn’t worth risking in a nothing game, but Northern Ireland will be eager to win and Dallas is undoubtedly one of their best players meaning he will likely play.

Hopefully, he plays reduced minutes across the two games with his national team because it is imperative the right-back returns to Thorp Arch unscathed after the international break.

The players going off for international duty came at the most opportune time for Leeds amid their relegation scrap.

They had just enjoyed their potentially season-defining win at Molineux, extending their lead on the drop zone to seven points and now Marsch has a couple of weeks to work with his players ahead of the last push.

Key players such as Raphinha and Robin Koch will benefit from a couple of weeks’ break having not been fit enough for international duty with Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips also set to make vital steps towards their return in the break.

It couldn’t have come at a better time for the Whites who now look to have one hand on Premier League football next season.
