View: Leeds United get major relegation boost ahead of nervy final day of season

Leeds United have been handed a major relegation boost ahead of their crunch relegation clash against Brentford on the last day of the season.

The Whites currently sit in 17th in the table, one point ahead of Burnley who have the opportunity to go above usurp them should they avoid a loss in their game in hand.

Mike Jackson’s side faces an Aston Villa side who have absolutely nothing to play for in terms of the league in their game in hand but Jesse Marsch will be buzzing after hearing what Steven Gerrard said ahead of the game.

“I am the Aston Villa manager and they are three important points,” Gerrard said as per Yorkshire Evening Post.

“We will have a full house there (against Burnley), we have got 20,000 people waiting on a waiting list to come and watch the team so it’s my responsibility to try and win both games.”

Aston Villa beat Burnley 3-1 recently in the league which was a massive relief to all Leeds fans.

With their Premier League future now very much out of their own hands, all the Whites will be praying that their relegation rivals lose the rest of their remaining games.

Gerrard’s side have already proven themselves to be capable of beating and they simply have to do it again if the Elland Road outfit have any chance of staying up.

Everton look to be home and dry with a win on Thursday [May 19] night against Crystal Palace confirming their safety.

Of course, Marsch will be hoping for them to lose to really put the cat amongst the pigeons on the final day but most of their hopes rest on Burnley slipping up which is a good possibility given their form of late.

The most important thing is that the Whites go out and beat Brentford which will be a very tough task.

In other Leeds United news, A journalist has said that Leeds could be “damned” in a major pay-cut and release clause view.
