Leeds United fans will love ambition shown amid Elland Road transfer development

The transfer rumour mill is in full swing with Leeds United as we close on the January window and one link in particular should give supporters cause for optimism about the club’s ambition.

The Whites are enjoying a successful season so far with their 2-0 win over Stoke not only sending them to the summit of the Championship but also getting the Potters boss sacked after the defeat.

However, the season doesn’t finish in December and January will provide an excellent opportunity to further boost their hopes of promotion and Leeds look set to showcase their ambition.

TOPMercato reported (27 December) that the Whites have tabled a £16.5m bid for RC Lens centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov and for a Championship side that is a steep figure and would be the biggest fee ever paid by a EFL club.

The face they are being linked to such a high-profile transfer will be music to ears of supporters so desperate to once again be dining at the top table.

Leeds United ready to showcase January ambition

Ambition is a word that gets thrown around a lot towards the top end of the Championship and rightfully so. At the end of the day, or season for this matter, the sides that show the most ambition are the ones that achieve the most success and Leeds look set to live up to that.

Previous links to Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman (Sport5) provided an early insight into the ambition but the links to Khusanov have blown that out of the water.

For context, the fee reported would see him become the most expensive signing in Championship history, pipping Mike Tresor’s move to Burnley at the top (Transfermarkt).

If that isn’t a showcase of ambition then it is hard to define what is and, regardless of whether the deal goes ahead, Leeds certainly look set to be active in the transfer window.

If the Whites can have a successful window, promotion could be almost nailed on and their wait for a Premier League return will be over.
