Leeds United star Raphinha could miss PL clash v Southampton on Saturday
Leeds United attacker Raphinha is currently on international duty with Brazil and his next game is in the early hours of Friday morning (UK time).
By the time Brazil v Uruguay concludes, it will be 4am on Friday which means that even if he takes the next flight back home, he’s likely to miss training that day.
What makes things worse is that the Whites play at three o’clock on Saturday afternoon which means that Raphinha will not get another training session before the game.
He’s also played in both of Brazil’s games thus far and is very likely to play the third one as well, making it three in the space of eight days.
Should he play on Saturday, it will be four in 10 which makes one wonder whether Marcelo Bielsa will be told to avoid starting him for that game.
The Argentine will be absolutely livid if he’s unable to count on the Brazilian’s services through no fault of anyone.
Most of the Leeds players have had underwhelming starts to the new season, but Raphinha’s been sharp and one of the few shining hopes for the Whites.
While we would like Raphinha to start this game, it might not be the best for the coming games as high fatigue could lead to injuries in the future.
However, this shouldn’t mean that South American countries get away with such poor scheduling of games as it’s the same old story for every international break.
