Patrick Bamford to quit Leeds United after new £33m reveal from Italy

This season Leeds United have been one of the most dominant teams in the Championship and find themselves second in the league.

While there have been times when the club have slipped up, such as their recent 1-1 draw against Preston, Daniel Farke’s men look well on course to gain promotion this term.

However, with the January transfer window now just around the corner, it’s likely that some changes are going to take place at Elland Road over the next month or so to try and help them guarantee their future.

And, as per a recent report from TEAMtalk (18 December), it has been shared that Genoa, who are interested in making a move for Patrick Bamford over the next couple of windows, are set to receive a £33million “cash injection” from their current controlling owners A-Cap.

However, they currently find themselves in “limbo” regarding the future of their ownership so a loan-to-buy option would be their preferred option.

The future of the Englishman has been a hot topic from Elland Road recently with the likes of Wrexham linked with an interest as well.

Whatever the future holds for Bamford, it seems like he’ll have plenty of options, especially with the investment Genoa are set to receive.

Leeds United getting rid of Patrick Bamford would be a mistake

While Bamford has had hardly any playing time this term, it still feels like he could become a key cog in Daniel Farke’s system, especially when his form from last season is considered.

His injuries will have no doubt hindered his progress but the fact that Mateo Jospeh and Joel Piroe haven’t seemed to find any sort of consistency recently means that the tides could eventually turn in the 31-year-old’s favour.

Of course, this is all just speculation at the moment and nothing is set in stone but the fact that clubs seem to be lining up for him shows that there’s still likely a more than solid player within the talisman.

Bamford is still only 31 and while his injury record may leave a lot to be desired, it feels like Leeds should continue to stick with him, for now at least.
