Patrick Bamford put on notice as £4m+ Leeds transfer news emerges
Leeds United chasing a January transfer move for Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman could spell the end of Patrick Bamford’s time at Elland Road.
Israeli outlet Sport5 reported on 4 December that the Whites are keen on signing the 21-year-old forward in January, with an official approach made from LS11 and a fee of at least £4.1million demanded.
Despite YEP journalist Joe Donnohue pouring water on the claims that United were intending to place such a bid for Turgeman, the number nine role is still an area which Daniel Farke could look at in January.
Farke may have Bamford, Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph at his disposal as potential first-choice strikers, but it’s the former who seems the most likely to make way if Turgeman is indeed signed in January.
Patrick Bamford exit the best move for all parties at Leeds united
Bamford is into a seventh season wearing the number nine jersey for the Whites, but the 31-year-old’s impact at Elland Road has never been less than what it is right now, even in his injury-hit campaigns.
Starting in just one of his eight appearances this term – and even that only came in the EFL Cup – Bamford is yet to find the net having been restricted to second-half cameos in the Championship.

Farke is still yet to make his mind up on who his first choice is up front, selecting either Joseph or Piroe in decisions usually dependent on United’s opponent, but Bamford looks unlikely to get much of a look-in.
Interestingly, Farke brought Bamford off the bench ahead of Joseph in United’s frustrating 1-0 defeat at Blackburn last time out, but his only real contribution was to be ruled offside for their disallowed goal.
As a result, and with the veteran wanting more game-time himself in the second half of the campaign, Bamford taking his leave from Elland Road to make way for the likes of Turgeman makes a lot of sense.
