Patrick Bamford footage emerges from Thorp Arch amid Leeds United injury news

Leeds United have been handed a boost ahead of the clash against Cardiff City after Patrick Bamford was spotted in training.

Daniel Farke will be keen to get his squad back to full fitness quickly after a raft of concerns at the start of the new campaign.

This has seen the German provide an update on the fitness of six players ahead of a trip to the Welsh capital with Bamford being one of those ready to return.

The manager said in his press conference (19 September): “He can’t wait to be involved again. He tries to earn his place back in the squad and he’s edging closer.

Patrick Bamford could return to Leeds United against Cardiff City

Fresh footage has emerged from the Whites’ X account on 20 September which shows the former England international in training unaided.

After featuring across just 11 minutes worth of action this season, it is positive to see him appearing to be moving freely.

This could see him make the bench or even potentially start against Cardiff in a boost to Farke’s side ahead of a big game.

After losing to Burnley despite missing a whole host of chances, adding some firepower could prove to be positive for the squad.

The 31-year-old has struggled for goals in recent months but this has been partially down to his injuries which have made his showings very stop-start.

If he can return to fitness and get a run of games in, alongside or instead of Mateo Joseph, there is every chance the ex-Chelsea man can hit the ground running.

If the striker can do that, Farke’s side could be fired up the Championship table after an inconsistent start to the season.
