MOT View: Thomas Frank does Bielsa's team talk for him ahead of Leeds clash v Stoke

Thomas Frank’s Brentford are posing a major threat to Leeds United and their hopes of securing automatic promotion to the Premier League.

As Leeds prepare to face Stoke at Elland Road on Thursday, the Whites are just three points clear of the third-placed London club, who are breathing down the necks of both the league leaders and West Brom in second.

Of course, if the Bees are going to overtake anyone it is going to be West Brom, who are a point behind Leeds, but that does not mean that Marcelo Bielsa’s side is immune to slipping up and falling into the clutches of the London side too.

Brentford came from behind to win 2-1 against Charlton on Tuesday night, making it their sixth win on the bounce.

After the match, Frank talked up the pressure his side is piling on Leeds and West Brom and has called on the top-two to respond.

“It’s a big win. It’s up to West Brom and Leeds to come up with an answer,” Frank said, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Of course I will watch Derby against West Brom on Wednesday night, but that’s because we are playing them on Saturday.”

Well, there’s Bielsa’s team talk done for him on Thursday night.

We do not doubt for a second that the players are not fully motivated for the match but if they did need an extra boost, showing them Frank’s words ought to do it.

He’s telling Leeds to win; taunting them, even.

He’s saying ‘we are here, what are you going to do about it?’ Well, we know what Leeds should do about it and that is to wipe the floor with Stoke on Thursday night.

The Potters are fighting to avoid relegation to League One and should be a team who the Whites can beat without having to sweat.

We don’t want to sound complacent but if Frank expects to pile pressure on Leeds with his words, he’s wrong. If anything, all he is going to do is add extra fuel to the fire.

In other Leeds United news, Leeds and West Brom fans have hit out at Sky Sports after noticing something about the promotion race.
