MOT View: Never-before-seen Leeds star must make debut in Arsenal clash
Leeds United fans were once again left asking questions over their defence after the 4-1 defeat against Crystal Palace.
It was the second time in the space of one week that the Whites have conceded four goals, and this can’t be a weekly occurrence.
Marcelo Bielsa’s system has been exploited by counter-attacking teams, and the absence of Kalvin Phillips hasn’t helped that either.
There is one more player Leeds could be missing.
Diego Llorente has yet to be seen by fans, with the Spaniard picking up a groin injury during the previous international break.
Many Whites fans were left drooling over the prospect of Llorente coming into the side after his sparkling display against Portugal – marking no other than Cristiano Ronaldo out of the game.
Llorente should have been back for the Palace defeat, but after missing that, the Arsenal game after this break should definitely see him return.
In that game against Portugal, the 27-year-old completed 99% of his passes and won 79 of his 92 total duels according to WyScout and clearly has all the attribute to succeed under Bielsa.
Robin Koch and Liam Cooper have looked calamitous in the past two games against Palace and Leicester, and it may be time for one of those to drop out.
Looking at those two options, Koch has been the more present defender this season but has made more mistakes in the past two games.
Cooper does look troubled against players such as Jamie Vardy, but is Bielsa’s skipper – not like that would stop him from pulling the plug on his starting spot.
Llorente is closing in on full-fitness, and with two weeks of training behind him at Thorp Arch, we could be seeing a major change for the Arsenal clash.
