MOT View: Neil Warnock digs himself massive hole after latest unfounded comment on Leeds
There’s not much love for Neil Warnock at Elland Road after the turgid and over-physical football his Leeds United side played.
And he’s not faring much better with his punditry.
Talking on EFL on Quest on Saturday he said, “I think that’s been their [Leeds] weakness at times with the clean sheets, they’ve been sloppy at times.”
This is on the back of five straight wins and five clean sheets.
However, we should take the time to scratch the surface a bit more – something Warnock should have done before he went on Quest.
Leeds have conceded fewer goals than any other team in the Championship this season – seven fewer than West Brom in second.

We’ve kept 17 clean sheets from 37 games, a phenomenal record that equates to 46% of our league games and is more than any other side in any of the top four leagues in England [LUFCDATA].
Average goals conceded is 0.81 per game and we haven’t let a goal in now for 515 minutes.
That’s on top of having our goalkeeper banned and a 19-year-old coming in and making his Championship debut.
Leeds have kept 17 clean sheets this season (46% of our games), more than any other side in the top four tiers of English football. We haven’t conceded a goal in 515 minutes of football (over eight & a half hours), and are averaging just 0.81 goals conceded per game (30/37). Wow. pic.twitter.com/sJqu0tEJED

What’s even more impressive about the record is that we don’t pack the defence and play for 0-0s and 1-0s. We defend by attacking.
It’s true that Leeds had a blip and it was threatening to derail the season.
But it’s just not realistic to think you’re going to sweep through a league as tough as the Championship without suffering a slump in form.
It’s how you come out of that slump that defines you as a team and Leeds have come good just at the right time.
Just for the record though, Neil, our problem isn’t with clean sheets this season. Saying that just makes you look silly.
