MOT View: Mateusz Klich international call-up bad news for Leeds United

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has been struggling for a number of months now with an injury at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa admitted that he has been playing with a big problem, and insisted that he was sacrificing his fitness for the good of the team.

Graham Smyth shared that Klich was in clear discomfort after coming off the bench against Chelsea, and was even spotted with the medical team after the clash.

Klich is screaming out for a rest.

That is the opposite of what he will get though, with Poland confirming his selection for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers this month.

Leeds travel to Fulham on Friday evening first, and then the Whites will be handed a two-week break; something that Klich could have done with.

His performances levels have seriously dropped ever since he first picked up this knock, and not letting it fully heal has seen the Whites struggle in midfield.

The 30-year-old started in phenomenal style after promotion, scoring and assisting in games against Liverpool and Fulham.

After only missing 21 minutes of action in the opening 12 matches, Klich has only completed 90 minutes in two of his previous 10 outings.

This is a serious problem.

With Kalvin Phillips also suffering from injuries, Bielsa is lacking options in midfield should both of these players struggle over this international break.

Rodrigo has been snubbed from the Spain squad and it would have been great should Klich had experienced the same fate this month.

We are crossing our fingers that Klich isn’t used too much and is there as a last resort, this could be bad news for the Whites moving forward.
