MOT View: Leeds United player ratings v Aston Villa

Leeds United welcomed Aston Villa to Elland Road this evening for yet another crucial Premier League clash.

It didn’t get off to the best of starts, though, with the Whites putting in one of their worst halves of the season and going 1-0 down.

When you think it couldn’t, it got even worst in the second half, with Leeds going on to lose 3-0 and really look more than just relegation candidates.

MOT Leeds News have shared their player ratings below…

Illan Meslier – 5

Had much more to do this evening than he did at the weekend, but still looked like a deer in the headlights when the ball was at his feet.

Stuart Dallas – 6

Another night where he could have been better utilised in the midfield two, with the likes of Lucas Digne overlapping causing constant problems.

Luke Ayling – 6

Used centrally and that experiment simply has to stop, with him much better pushing on and overlapping down the right – didn’t do too much wrong this evening.

Pascal Struijk – 5

Appeared to struggle with the pace of Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins at times, his lack of dominance also led to his deflection for the conceded goal, he has to stand taller at times.

Junior Firpo – 2

Commits far too many fouls for our liking. The Spaniard was much more dangerous going forward against Leicester and failed to create much this evening – his defensive efforts in the second half were embarrassing.

Robin Koch – 4

The German is being forced into this midfield and whenever we have to bomb forward or play quick passes, it becomes more clear that this isn’t working.

Adam Forshaw – 3

What on earth was he doing tonight. We can’t believe how many times the midfielder gave the ball away throughout and wasted good opportunities – needs to be much better.

Jack Harrison – 2

Awful. There is no way to sugarcoat this, the winger was simply dreadful yet again and is treading on thin ice if he wants to keep his place in this side.

Raphinha – 6

The Brazilian has really been going through a rough patch in recent weeks, but he showed signs that his flair was coming back in this one with some nice flicks – we need more if we’re going to stay up though.

Dan James – 6

Bright but that end product is still missing and really needs to be addressed at Thorp Arch sooner rather than later – it’s becoming a real issue.

Rodrigo – 0

If we thought playing centrally was going to help the Spaniard, that certainly wasn’t the case this evening, with Rodrigo dragged off at half-time. That big money price tag is paining us with each passing week.
