MOT View: Leeds defender Luke Ayling topping one chart in Premier League

Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has certainly been a revelation in the Premier League since promotion last season.

The Whites have stuck with the majority of the side that lifted the Championship title in the previous campaign, and they have been rewarded.

Marcelo Bielsa is known for his loyalty, and the likes of Ayling and Stuart Dallas are two of those that have reaped serious rewards.

Ayling has paid back Bielsa too, with his stats among the best in the entire Premier League despite this being his first full season with the best.

LUFC DATA shared a stunning stat after the 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, which shows the Whites defender topping one chart in particular.

“Luke Ayling has made more successful tackles (76) than any other PL player this season,” he said.

Ayling has been phenomenal this season.

It is hard to think of a bigger bargain than the defender, who arrived from Bristol City for only £200,000 after he was told he wasn’t wanted.

Possibly the best thing about that was that Lee Johnson was the one who couldn’t find a spot for Ayling, and he is now stuck in League One with Sunderland; such a shame.

Thank god for Bielsa.

Ayling has always been great at bombing forward and El Loco’s disciplined but all-out-attack style has helped him harness that to suit his game perfectly.

His defensive game hasn’t suffered from that, as this stat proves, with Ayling proving his worth massively and sitting among the best in the world, not just the Premier League.

The versatility of Ayling has been a real saviour for the Whites, as he has covered centrally during this major injury crisis this season; he has been vital.
