The Premier League has announced the officials for the Premier League game between Leeds United and Liverpool next Monday and Whites fans are fuming.
They’ve been kicking off on Twitter after it was announced that Anthony Taylor will be officiating. And it gets worse as far as fans are concerned, with Mike Dean on VAR and James Mainwaring running the line.
It’s a full-house of horrors as far as Leeds fans are concerned.
Leeds have been on the wrong end of a number of controversial VAR decisions this season with wafter-thin offsides going against us, and Liam Cooper seeing his yellow upgraded to a red on Saturday.
Leeds fans aren’t expecting much from the officials on Monday.
Lots of Leeds supporters still haven’t forgiven Taylor for the shambolic performance in the game against Sheffield Wednesday in 2016.
He let us take a corner while Fernando Forestieri was being subbed off and gave the goal after we scored only to chalk it off afterwards.
Leeds manager Steve Evans said Taylor was only fit to referee the Under-9s league after that display.
Taylor also sent off Gaetano Berardi in the play-off semi-final against Derby, had a bad game in the FA Cup game against Arsenal last January, and was in charge for the 6-2 drubbing against Man United.
He’s awarded penalties against Leeds in two of the four games that he’s reffed this season.
Do we need to go into Mike Dean’s record?
He disallowed two goals for us in the game against West Ham back in March and also booked Kalvin Phillips in a decision that was described as a “joke” by Adrian Durham.
He said that Dean was gullible and fell for a loud squeal from Pablo Fornals.
That yellow for Kalvin Phillips is a joke. Massive dive, loud squeal, ref gullible.

Leeds fans are probably more bothered about Dean than Taylor and the tweet below is pretty reflective of what’s being said on social media.

But there’s more.
James Mainwaring is running the line. The same Mainwaring who flagged for a penalty for Middlesbrough in the game in November 2017, despite replays showing Luke Ayling had committed the initial foul.
That bizarre decision is laid bare in the video below.

It all adds up to a line-up of shockers for the game on Monday and Leeds fans are right to be fearing the worst.
This Leeds side has proved that it can battle the odds and come out on top, though, after a brilliant win with 10 men against Man City on Saturday.
Another win against Liverpool would really send shockwaves around the league and would get Leeds fans dreaming of Europe again.
