MOT View: Latest report on Dan James availability could be music to the ears of Leeds

Leeds United might want to keep close tabs on Daniel James’ situation once the season is over with Manchester United reportedly planning to loan out the attacker.

According to the Sun, Man United could table a new contract offer to James, 22, and then send him out on loan if they sign summer targets Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish.

Man United signed James from Swansea for £15million last summer, a deal which came several months after a move to Leeds fell through.

James had arrived at Thorp Arch on deadline day in January, signed off on a loan-to-buy switch and even posed for pictures with a Leeds shirt before Swansea pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute.

It was a cruel blow for Leeds, who might have gone on to win promotion to the Premier League last season if they had the jet-heeled Welshman in their side.

Since joining Man United in the summer, James has scored four goals and supplied seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

He is yet to prove he can be a top player for Man United as they aim to re-establish themselves as England’s best side but we’ve still seen enough from the Wales international to suggest he’s a special talent.

And he’s certainly one that Leeds should be all over if the Red Devils decide they want to send the winger out on loan ahead of next season.

Marcelo Bielsa has a good number of wingers at his disposal but James is a cut above and could be someone to help the Whites establish themselves back in the Premier League.
