MOT View: Fan reaction could prove that Leeds star is ready for PL if promotion secured
As the enforced break continues, Leeds United fans have started to imagine what life would be like in the Premier League.
The improved performances of Luke Ayling this season has seen him included in many teams of the season, especially after Christmas.
Ayling has certainly proved himself after previously having some question marks over his ability at times last season – those have been thrown out of the window.
On Monday, a Leeds fan group’s Twitter account asked the question if Ayling was ready for the Premier League and the response was overwhelming.
It was hard to look past of all the fans agreeing that he was, with nearly zero responses claiming that he wasn’t ready for the top-flight.
Ayling was in some of the best form of his career before the Coronavirus put a halt on the season, helping keep five consecutive clean-sheets as well as scoring three goals in that run of wins in West Yorkshire.
The 28-year-old has the highest average match rating on WhoScored, ahead of the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Ben White as he has proven himself as a real leader at Elland Road.
Performances like the one against Huddersfield is what we’ll be expecting in the top flight, Ayling obviously scored but he also managed two shots on goal as well as a couple of key passes as he was a constant thorn in the side of their defence.
Marcelo Bielsa won’t change the way we play, even with promotion and Ayling will certainly be a key part of that at wing-back next season either way.
