MOT View: Emphasis on Leeds player in behind-the-scenes clip could be telling about Bielsa plans

After scoring two goals in the 4-0 demolition of Hull on Saturday, it is no surprise that Tyler Roberts has been the talk of the town among Leeds United fans.

Plenty of supporters have already taken to Twitter to say that they would rather see the 21-year-old start up front against Huddersfield this weekend instead of Patrick Bamford, who is struggling to hit the back of the net in 2020.

Roberts scored two goals in just 23 minutes at the KCOM on Saturday – matching Bamford’s goalscoring record for this year already even though he’s been Marcelo Bielsa’s first-choice striker.

It is no surprise to see those fans calling for Bielsa to drop Bamford and start Roberts but the club’s latest clip on YouTube could be telling about what the Leeds boss has planned for this weekend.

Leeds’ social media team uploaded a behind-the-scenes video of the players training at Thorp Arch on Wednesday, with a major emphasis on Roberts.

The video showed Roberts receiving instructions from one of Bielsa’s coaching team, doing some work in the gym and taking to the training field for passing drills.

It seemed like Roberts was really being put through his paces while the video barely showed Bamford at Leeds’ latest training session.

Could this be a hint that Roberts is going to start ahead of Bamford this weekend? Or, could Roberts’ double at the weekend at least hand him a spot in the starting line-up at the expense of someone else?

Roberts can play as a forward but can also slot into the midfield if needed, so there’s always the possibility of say Helder Costa being dropped and Pablo Hernandez moving onto the ring-wing.

It’s something Bielsa is bound to be thinking of after Roberts showed more cutting edge in less than half an hour against Hull than Bamford has done in months.
