MOT View: Bielsa team selection could hinder Leeds in reported hunt for £15m forward

It was reported recently that Leeds United had joined the hunt to sign Southampton forward Che Adams in January.

Football Insider claimed on their website that the Whites had joined Nottingham Forest in the race, with the fellow Championship club already submitting a loan offer.

Southampton only bought the 23-year-old in the summer for £15million, but he could find himself back out on loan after failing to impress.

It has now been reported by Football Insider that Marcelo Bielsa has given the green light over a potential move for the former Birmingham man who has struggled in the Premier League.

The reputable outlet claim that the Whites are in the market for a new striker given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Eddie Nketiah at Elland Road.

Nketiah has struggled for game time and could be recalled next month despite completing 45 minutes in the 2-1 defeat against Fulham on Saturday.

Bielsa has kept his faith in Patrick Bamford this season and has been repaid with the forward already matching his tally from the last campaign this time around.

The South American has a strict system which sees him play with one forward, and that faith towards Bamford could hinder any move for a striker in the window as they will know that they aren’t guaranteed minutes at Elland Road.

The best scenario Leeds fans can likely hope for is that Arsenal don’t recall Nketiah, as he is a player that will know his spot in the side and use that as motivation to push Bamford all the way for a place in the side between now and the end of the season.
